About Loch Long
Loch Long is a sea loch stretching 20 miles from the Firth of Clyde in the south west to Arrochar in the north east. The loch was used as a testing ground for torpedoes during World War II. Finnart Oil Terminal, which is linked to Grangemouth via a 60-mile pipeline, is on the eastern shore of the loch with access to Loch Goil on the western shore. The Royal Navy's Coulport Armament depot (part of HMNB Clyde) and Glen Mallan jetty, linked to Glen Douglas defence munitions depot are located on the eastern shore.
From the village of Ardentinny, LochLongCam provides 24/7 coverage of Loch Long shipping activities. We grab and upload still images from the live cam at hourly intervals.
